About the course:
Learn how to become a skilled mark layer capable of setting up a variety of course types. Learning the tricks of the trade and developing the key skills required to support a race officer.
This is a course of two halves. Consisting of e-learning modules which can be completed in your own time (approx. 3hours, plus GPS practice time).
The second half is an intense and full day packed with practical training sessions.
Pre-requisites:
· Hold an RYA Level 2 powerboat handling certificate.
· You must be able to use a handheld compass.
· You must be capable and comfortable with using a GPS device.
· As a mark layer you will be an essential part of the race management team and will need to effectively communicate with the whole team.
· You will be handling anchors, warps, and marks in sometimes challenging conditions over extended periods. You do not need to be super fit, but you will need a general level of fitness.
· A general knowledge of racing is helpful.
· Preferable to hold an SRC, but not essential.
What to bring? Suitable warm/waterproof clothing, packed lunch, Lifejacket/Buoyancy Aid & GPS (if you have one)
