RYS Regatta – report by Mary Montagu-Scott

The BRSC took part in a Royal Yacht Squadron, Commodore’s invitational Regatta on 1st – 3rd July to compete against 12 other Yacht Club teams in J70’s. Myself with Barney Dykes, Kit Fothergill and Miranda Knowles had great fun in the strong winds, learnt a lot and met many people from around the UK, including 3 clubs from Ireland and one from Wales. The event was won by the Royal Cork YC and we came 2nd to last but over 10 races did have one 3rd and one 5th, which was a good result for us, not being experienced J70 boat sailors. Thanks to Barney for his expertise and please let me know if you would like to represent the club and do this regatta next year as always looking for crew.
