Race report – June Kirkman It was a race governed by the expectation of foul weather, so we kept it simple. Lucy was the first to arrive, and we were wondering whether anyone else would join her, when Charles, Hannah and Arden turned up. We all stood on the shore and agreed a course and Symon then rowed out to join them on the start line. It was a close start with everyone starting at the expected far end of the line. Symon was the only one going for clear air but slightly in the tide. Hannah was so keen that she was called OCS. I had just been telling her that we are quite lax about this but Gerard as RO called it in good time and she dutifully went back. I expect it was Hannah’s first race and she was just sorting out where the start line is, she will be back. From then on they all stayed pretty much together, desperately searching for wind at each mark. As usual the moment the course was shortened, the wind filled in, but it was too late to give Hannah a second go at the start line.
