Call for Volunteers at upcoming club events
There are various club events coming up in the programme that need support. We can’t do these events without volunteers so please let us know if you can help in anyway.
1. Saturday 29 July – Club Rally to Newtown Creek
This is not a race and will only happen if the weather conditions are favourable. We have a club safety boat for this but are looking for a safety boat driver (safety boat crew already volunteered on website – thank you Keith Hutton) for this escorted sail. A volunteered bigger RIB would also be useful to have should anyone be willing to offer and be involved. In the past, we have also sailed with a ‘mother ship’ to escort the boats wishing to take part to carry kit and to have as a precaution should anyone need to keep warm. We need a bigger boat to assign as our ‘mother ship’ this year too (preferably a cabin motor cruiser). Please let us know if you can help in this event.
2. Monday 14 – 17 August – Summer Pottering at Needs Ore
This week is in the programme as a social get together for competent sailors. It is no longer an instruction week. We will only sail in good weather but it would be useful to have 1 safety boat out on these days of sailing, picnics and fun. So, looking for volunteers here. The sailing will be very casual and if it’s too windy, then it’s just a picnic and social at Needs Ore Clubhouse. Anyone wishing to sail, do let me know – sailing@brsc.org.uk
3. Saturday 19 – 20 August – BRSC Regatta
We have 2 club safety boats but need to borrow another 3 boats for each day of the regatta. If you have a boat you can volunteer, please let us know. Andrew Duncan has already very kindly volunteered his RIB for both days – thank you.
We will need the following:
5 x safety boat drivers each day (Oli Stanley has already agreed to safety boat driving on the Sunday – thank you).
5 x safety boat crew each day
1 x laser starting and race officer (I have one day covered by Andrew Duncan)
Please contact Sam Van Holthe safety@brsc.org.uk or volunteer on the website
2 x shore support each day
Also needed are plenty of people to help with refreshments. We are planning a bar at lunchtime and a bring your own food to cook on a club BBQ post races on the Saturday and teas and cakes on the Sunday prior to prize giving.
We look forward seeing you at some of these events and to hearing from you if you can help. Any help, as always, much appreciated indeed.
