Sailing Season 2025
Ahoy there! Spring is in the air. Time to emerge from our long hibernation and gather on the bank at Rope Factory Field on Saturday 15th March 2025 for our first race of the year. Please check your boat insurance is up to date and remember if lending your boat, you may still be liable for any insurance claim. Also check your rigging is secure and that the mice haven’t chewed through your buoyancy bags. Jay Devonshire will be down at RFF before the first race at 10am with his buoyancy checking device and can sign off your LRSCA log book. This is required for Travellers’s Trophy participants. Due to the heavy rain, it is worth bringing a bow prop so that your boat can drain. Following the race, at 1200 we’ll be hosting the usual post race refreshments in Rope Factory Field. All are welcome, particularly our new members and their sponsors – a perfect opportunity to meet the committee and fellow sailors. In case you have not yet received these, another opportunity to re connect is an early evening drink on 15th March at 18:00 at Lepe House courtesy of Michael & Emma Page (SO45 1AD see directions). RSVP to emma.page@lepe.org.uk. BOATS FOR SALE If anyone is looking for Scows there are quite a few for sale on the Club website https://brsc.site/marketplace. I have just added two ex Lymington Scows. If you have sold your boats please email web@brsc.org.uk so they can be removed. BOATS STORED ON CLUB PREMISES Please can I remind members that all boats stored on club premises should have a BRSC identity tag so that we can contact owners. Our lease says that all boats should arrive after 15th March and be removed by 15th November. This year, one yellow Scow and three Optimists remained so the estate are considering a penalty charge for non compliance. The estate have agreed to waiver our lease for this year, so boats can start arriving in the week before the race. We have also been reminded that where possible the preference is for dark green covers so as to preserve the natural ambiance of the river. Very much looking forward to seeing you on the river. |
